Genre : Party Rock
Hometown : Hartford, Connecticut
Website : www.bigfloppydisk.com
Bio: Widely heralded as the best looking band in the Northeast, Big Floppy Disk brings the kind of party that can't be ignored. Legions of loyal fans, known as The Diskheads, have been knocking down the doors at clubs across the tri-state area just to catch a glimpse of the band crowned Best Cover Band by The 2008 Hartford Advocate Grand Band Slam. Not since the Beatles has a band seen such hysteria from the ladies when performing. Big Floppy Disk has the sound, maturity and sexual appetite of a much younger band. Always the giver, keyboardist That Guy, winner of both the 2007 & 2008 Hartford Advocate Grand Band Slam for Best Keyboardist, gives free breast examinations at every show. Johnny 5's low bass gives just the right vibrations, while Dr J's beats keep you going all night long. And no one thinks Freddy 4Play is a better guitarist than Freddy 4Play himself, who can often be found between sets cleaning his guitar with hundred dollar bills. Clubs have been clamoring to hire Big Floppy Disk due to the extremely high beer sales as the band often drinks as much as the entire crowd. Twice as energetic as the competition and three times as obnoxious, this is a party where the hangover is worth it! Proudly sponsored by Coors Light & Murray's Dental Dams

Genre : Alternative Rock
Hometown : Rensselaer, New York
Website : www.albanyV.com
Bio: The Vernacular is an alternative rock cover band based in New York's Capital Region. The band is composed of Matt Lewis (lead vocals, rhythm guitar), Jeff Garrison (lead guitar, backing vocals and keyboards), Steve Hamilton (rhythm guitar, backing vocals and keyboards), Matthew Bramer (bass guitar, backing vocals) and Dave Martone (drums, percussion). The band formed in 2007 in Albany New York under the name Frieda Hammond. After a name change in early 2008 the band's lineup crystallized and has been working successfully in premiere venues throughout New York State. The band continues to impress fans and expand upon their already extensive and diverse repertoire of popular rock ranging from classic to modern alternative. The Vernacular's energy and quality performance is truly unparalleled. Recently they've raised the bar for bands in their genre by playing shows featuring 2 sets consisting of 25-30 songs, rather than the traditional 3 sets consisting of 12-15 songs with lengthy breaks where a loss of interest can occur. The Vernacular continues to refresh their set lists by satisfying requests received from fans and by carefully watching trends in radio and other popular media. Genre : Rock/Pop/Alternative
Hometown : Albany, New York
Website : www.thevelmas.com
Bio: Since 1999, the Velmas - bassist Todd “Figaro” Minnick, guitarist Mike “Harvey” Grosshandler and drummer Michael “Bruce” Bruce - have been entertaining upstate New York. The band has become a favorite around Albany and Syracuse, NY, and is gaining popularity throughout the Northeastern U.S. In 2002, the Velmas released their debut album, Another Day At School. Since its release, the album has received rave reviews and has opened doors of opportunity for the band. "ADAS" was followed by Recess (2004), a 10-song “double EP” featuring new and unreleased studio tracks, as well as several live tracks. Recess included the song "Restless, Restless," which was selected out of thousands of entries as one of the top 20 finalists on Howard Stern's much-publicized "Restless, Restless" contest. The song also wound up being included on a compilation album called "The Best of Restless, Restless" with other entries including those from William Shatner and Robert Goulet. The Velmas would follow that up with their second full-length album, Station, released on City Canyons Records on October 31, 2006. Station was recorded at Robby Takac's (Goo Goo Dolls) Chameleon West Studios in Buffalo, NY. A digital-only single, "Playground," was released by City Canyons in April of 2009. The Velmas are three singers and songwriters creating powerful rock music. Their sound is influenced by old-school to modern rock, punk, reggae, and even country and classical. In concert, the Velmas back their music with a playful, high-energy live show, which is the reason why Albany-area "Velmites" keep voting them the Capital Region’s "Best Alternative Band" and "Best Rock Band" (Metroland, 2006, 2007, 2009). The Velmas have shared the stage with numerous acts, including Soul Asylum, Collective Soul, Everclear, moe., Tally Hall, Winger, Vertical Horizon, Samantha Ronson, and Shaw Blades (members of Styx, Night Ranger, and Damn Yankees).
